Preventing Future Wrinkles

As you know, the sun can cause a range of problems for our skin;  from melanoma to age spots to wrinkles.   So what are our options to prevent future wrinkles and other damage to our skin?

Sunscreen is first and foremost.  When buying your sunscreen, look at the ingredients and make sure they do not contain any of the following synthetic ingredients:

  • Avonbenzone, such as Parsol 1789
  • Parabens, such as butylparaben and ethylparabens
  • Oxybezone
  • Benzophenone-3
  • Phthalates, often found in the fragrance which may be is listed as 'parfum'.

A good sunscreen should contain:

  • At least 7 % zinc oxide or titanium dioxide to stop the UVA and UVB rays from the sun (even on a cloudy day) from getting through your skin.

Some facial day creams now include zinc oxide as a sunscreen block.

The best way to prevent wrinkles:

  • Live a healthy lifestyle and eat properly!
  • Buy a good wrinkle cream that will fight those wrinkles.  Be sure to watch for the synthetic ingredients I mentioned above.  They shouldn't be in your face cream either.

Some of the nutritional/pharmeceutical companies are now investing in research and as a result, are using better, healthier ingredients that are fantastic for our skin.
